I mentioned that May was a month not present in Moscow. Just
for the weekend when the Championship game in Ice Hockey was on the 14th.
Tickets were bought long in advance to my commitment I took on in Norway for
April and May. And how often do you see a game between home country Russia and
Norway in Moscow.
Have to say I missed out on much of the festival Moscow have
in the early May. For 3 weeks they celebrate food. Fish and Meat in separate periods,
farmers and suppliers get their spots and quite exciting to bring back to
Norway or Italy some local taste of Russian food. Either it is Bear meat or
Russian Caviar.
The celebration is also linked up with the Russian Easter that
gives us a long time Moscow are decorated in flowers and Happy Colors. We can
feel this last all the way until December.
Festival
One thing Moscow Commune is good at it is to celebrate the
festival they intend to celebrate. They cover the whole city with a designated
group of designers so the city is linked up with the same any place you go. We
are lucky for most of the places are very central, like outside TSUM at Kuznetski
Most. That the Cultural office to the commune is close by maybe helps. Other
places are along Nikolskaya almost from Lubyanka to the Red Square at times and
not at least at Revolution Square and Square Manezhnaya.
Ice Hockey
After almost 3 years this was my first hockey game in
Moscow. “Park Legenda” is a fantastic area, including also the museum of legendary
ice hockey players from Russia and the CCCP. At the World Championship there opportunity
for kids to meet and great some of them during the weeks the event lasted. This
winter they also included and outdoor arena for hockey. We did not expect too
much out of the game, but pleased to see that Norway “only” lost 3-0. Hope to
be back this winter to see some of the local Moscow teams in action.
