Yes, try to stick to my promise of yesterday and keep up the
good work in enter into the memories of last year. Today’s month is February
and I see there are activities come each February. Some with longer traditions
some I am not sure will be a tradition yet. Weather wise it looked like a
normal Moscow February, days a bit cold, but not all. February is a month that
reminds you that you live in Russia. Will be back tomorrow with 3 days in

February started with try out the ice at Red Square. I was
pleased to manage one hour without falling. Ice was sharp, and is prepared once
an hour compared to some other ice rinks around in Moscow. It is one of these
things that you just have to do when you live here. After we noticed a couple
newly wed walking for a photo session at Red Square like many do.

Other than reading Russian and special women is much into
handcrafted items. They love buy them, but most of all they love to make them.
When we noticed one of these events or call it exhibition of craft and
suppliers we headed in that direction. Sokolniki Park, where we could see there
where more than hand crafted items, in a separate pavilion a small farmer
marked and after on our way back to the Metro dancing well aged Russians was
dancing to ABBA. Dating or for fitness I am not sure.
Picture taken on Valentine’s Day, no reason to hide that we
went for a good local restaurant (Barashka) to finalize the day.
19th
A quite morning across Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge, Crossing
the Moscow River just days before the memorial day of Boris Nemtsov’s death at this
place.
20th
There is a fantastic view from Denis Gromlovs apartment in one
of the 7 sisters. Denis run the business Soul kitchen in Moscow and part of his
business is to have “home at my place” dinner. We have enjoyed his services
more than once and will do again.
21st
This Sunday we visited a small exhibition of home crafted
items. Got back home with an art work today is hanging in the kitchen in Italy.
To extend the walk we headed to the Valovaya Ulitsa to have a peak in the
ballet shop we had seen. Guess our
Granddaughters would love it.
23rd
First time I saw a political demonstration walking down
Petrovka I got surprised. This day with the Communist Party with their yearly
demonstration I was more there to get a shot of the RED FLAG that to me is the
memory of old Soviet Union. The picture in our mind, gray walls and Red Flags
waving to you in the wind and see the loyal communist walking today as they did
then. This is no longer what Russia is.
27th
This day this year was one year since the Russian opposition
politician Boris Nemtsov was killed crossing Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge. When
we heard we had not dogged into too much Russian politics. Have not done so
later either, but it is always a kind of shock when a politician for no reason
are murdered. It for us remarkable to see every day we cross the bridge flowers
are kept fresh even today a month away from the second year. We look forward to
this day to see how the day will be marked or Boris Nemtsov and the actions will
step by step be forgotten. First we followed the memory parade at Trubnaya
Square, they come down Petrovka Blv., and continued up Rozhdestvensky Blv. When
they finished we headed down to Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge to watch. Here is
some pictures from the day.
