Moscow 867 years

If you do not know about the celebration you get amazed. For us we were in a way even we stayed in Moscow this time last years. This year we had been noticed by our Russian teacher that the celebration was on. One reason we had an indication was the enormous activity last week in front of the Bolshoi Theater.

We did not know when it was to happen, we expected late night Saturday and so it was, but with so many people out in the city this day from early morning to late night to early morning again (we could hear through our bed room window) there was real celebration going on.

Some of the main street was closed off. Like Tverskaya was closed with security at Pushkin Square. So people could enjoy the 10 lines, 5 each direction, not used for traffic this weekend. Yes the celebration was for Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday we had some smaller shopping to do when we discovered the challenge to enter Red Square. So by coincident we noticed that something would take place at Tverskay. We stopped like many locals had along the fence to see what was coming. At Tverskaya it was the Military Tattoo participant that had their parade. Next year we can just stay home and enjoy the parade coming down Petrovka along with TSUM and Bolshoi Theater.

Sunday we were heading to a sport shop to find some gym equipment. Unfortunatly over the last 6 months the shop had closed. Indicating we could head home through Gorky Park and Park Kultury. The celebration was on here too. When we came to Park Kultury it was time for coffee and we had fun feeding the sparrows.

In Park Kultury it is always a lot of statues on display. With the large house of artist as part of the park it is a natural place for display.

The walk home was along the river up to Tverskaya again and new events to view. One thing comes to mind. We need to make a list of all the different celebrations so we can guide our visitors when they should come. Obvious the first weekend in September is good timing as Moscow is on display that weekend.

Different activities took place at Tverskaya, most people should have their pictures taken either as a selfie or along with the sign of the city age. A street painter used the canvas as dresses and models walked around smiling.

On days like this weekend it is not possible NOT love MOSCOW. Saturday we was at our usual restaurant and even the waiter had a busy time she at the whole time had a smile on her face like all people had in the sunshine.
